Saving Tips:

  • Create An Emergency Fund
Put away the money you would have spent on a minor daily purchase – like a cup of coffee or afternoon snack – and put it towards creating a fund for unplanned expenses. You then have a fund to tap into periodically for unplanned things like car repairs that come up from time to time. Financial planners advise you to create an emergency fund equal to 6 months of your income.

Use our Savings Goal Calculator to see just how quickly you can reach your emergency fund goal.

  • Involve The Entire Family
Make saving an activity for each member of your household. If you can reach a savings goal together, then at the end of the month – reward your family with a small treat, like ordering pizza or dessert for dinner.

  • Look for ways to save resources
Limit your use of electronics and utilities, and consider unplugging them when not in use, to cut down on your bills while freeing up more money to go to savings. Open the shades for more natural sunlight to heat your house, turn off the TV and lights when not in use, run your dishwasher at night, and throw an extra blanket on the bed before turning the thermostat up.

  • Buy Generic
Get the same grocery list items for less by buying the generic or "store brand" equivalent. It also helps to plan out your meal list for the week before going to the store so that you know exactly what you’re looking for, compare prices and don’t end up buying food that doesn’t get eaten.

  • Review Your Subscriptions & Memberships
It's a new year, time to cancel any memberships or subscriptions that you don’t use anymore. When you don’t use something for a while, you might be throwing away money that doesn’t bring any benefit to you.

  • Be A Student Of Saving
Keep an eye out for helpful tips & tricks and financial seminars to help you set firm and attainable goals. Visit Ent.com/Seminars for a full list of financial seminars to keep you on the right track.

Once you've decided how much you can put aside each month, and depending on your goal, you'll need to choose the right savings vehicle. Not sure which one is right for you? Our member service representatives can help advise you on what type of product might best fit your saving needs.
