Ent Continues to Support Youth Fitness Programs

Summer is here and now is a great time to get outdoors and enjoy beautiful Colorado. Running or walking is a great outdoor activity the entire family can participate in. The 4th Annual Ent 5K Fitness Challenge is drawing near and what better way to challenge you and your family than to get out and participate!

The Ent 5K Fitness Challenge is part of a lineup of American Discovery Trail Labor Day (September 1) events including a marathon, half marathon, 5K and children's fun race. Conducted on the beautiful Pikes Peak Greenway and the New Santa Fe Regional Trail, the marathon starts in Palmer Lake, runs south through the Air Force Academy on the New Santa Fe Regional Trail and finishes at America the Beautiful Park. The other events start and finish in downtown Colorado Springs' America the Beautiful Park.

Proceeds from participants (runners and walkers) in the 5K will support children's fitness programs in the Pikes Peak region.

Over 1,000 runners and walkers participated in the 2007 marathon, half marathon, 5K and kid�s fun run. This year even more are expected. Now is a great time to get out and get moving and the Ent 5K Fitness Challenge is an excellent way to stay active while enjoying beautiful Colorado.

A Message to Ent Members:

With the recent media coverage about bank failures and limits on deposit insurance, we're hearing from some members concerned about the safety of their deposits with Ent. Through the end of June, Ent's financial condition is strong with net income ahead of plan for the first half of the year. Member deposits have exceeded our expectations so far and our capital reserves provide strong protection against any potential future financial difficulties. And we continue to receive high regulator ratings, reflecting safe and sound management of your credit union. Our monthly financial results are available in each service center.

Ent's largest holdings are in loans to members like you. Nearly $1.8 billion of our $2.5 billion in assets is in consumer loans to members. Our members continue to repay their loans at record rates in spite of a challenging economy. The quality of a consumer loan portfolio like Ent's is largely measured by its overall delinquency. With only 0.60% of our loans in technical delinquency, that means that 99.4% of all loans are paid up to date. By comparison, the national average delinquency rate for the fifty largest credit unions in the United States was over .80%. Thanks to all of our members for honoring their borrowing agreements with us.

Much of today's concern about financial institution safety and soundness is a result of some bank and mortgage finance companies' involvement in sub-prime mortgage lending � loan products that Ent has never offered. When it comes to Ent's mortgage lending products and services, we are as strong and resilient as ever. We will continue granting loans that keep your best financial interests in mind.
